DBS presents its New Chairperson of the Board of Directors- Ms Brenda Bastienne
In late 2017, Ms Brenda Bastienne was appointed by President Danny Faure as the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the Development Bank of Seychelles and her appointment has been effective as from 1st January, 2018.
Ms. Bastienne began her career at the Policy and Strategy Division of the Ministry of Finance upon completion of her First Degree – a BA (Joint Honours) in Finance and Economics from the Manchester University in 2006.
She was part of the team involved in the economic reform in 2008 which saw the introduction of new legislation and institutions. In December 2010 she was among the first cohort of Seychellois graduates to be granted a scholarship by the Australian Agency for International Development where she completed both a Graduate Diploma in Public Administration (2011) and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy (2012) from the Crawford School of Public Policy at The Australian National University. She was awarded the Raymond Apthorpe Graduate Diploma Prize and The Master of Public Policy Prize by the school in 2011 and 2012 respectively for her outstanding results. In 2013 she was appointed Director General of the Policy and Strategy Division at the Ministry of Finance and Trade – the Division responsible for reviewing and implementing fiscal policies linked to the Government’s budgetary framework.
Over the past decade, she has served as a Director on the Seychelles Public Transport Company, the Seychelles Licensing Authority and the National Information Systems Agency as well as being a member of the Goods and Services Committee established under the Public Procurement Act, 2008. Ms. Bastienne is currently the Head of Market Regulation at Trop-X (Seychelles) Ltd – the Seychelles Stock Exchange – a post she has occupied since 2016. She is a member of the Golden Key International Society and also an Associate Member of the International Compliance Association since March 2017.

to her appointment, Ms. Bastienne believes that the Board, together with the
hardworking staff and management team, can lead the Bank into further
delivering on its mandate to assist in the economic development of the country.
